I was playing around with some long shadows in after effects. The idea came from Motion Master. He had a free template that I downloaded and recreated. It’s a great template and I highly recommend checking it out.
I used the idea and played with it a little in a couple of different examples.
Another guy on an After Effects Seattle Facebook group was asking about long shadows using After Effects and Element 3D. I’m sure there is a way to get them with 3d lighting but I thought I’d cheat it and use the idea from Motion Master to get the effect. In the following video I used Element 3D on top of the long shadow comp. It worked out pretty good and the text is linked and dynamic.
The great part about using Element 3D is it really makes the text pop a little more and gives it that great 3D look. The long shadow sells that even more.
